December Home Maintenance

2023 has flown by. It’s already December and here we are with 50+ degree weather almost half way through (here’s to hoping I didn’t just jinx it!).

December, of course, has more items for home maintenance on the inside vs the outside of your home. Do these simple tasks to stay on top of your home and to help minimize needs for fixing items sooner than needed.

Add All Weather Mats & A Place for People To Place Shoes

This is especially important if you have solid hardwood floors. You don’t want salt eating away at your beautiful homes, so just simply place a mat somewhere to catch all that snow, ice, rain, water, and especially salt.

Clean Shower Curtains

Not something we would all often think about. It is a shower curtain, it should stay clean in the shower, but that is just simply not true. Pull those babies down and get them in a good wash to keep the bacteria, dust and grime out of your shower.

Inspect Your Oven and Range

Make sure that they are clean to help prevent fire. If they aren’t get to work and put some elbow grease into it. Make sure that the burners and oven are igniting properly. If not, schedule a service appointment or look into a purchase for a new one.

Humidifer

Double check where it is set at. You want to bring some moisture into your home during these colder months where we lack it.

Test the Detectors

Since so many people bake a ton during this time of year, now is a great time to make sure your smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors work properly. If not replace the batteries or the units themselves.

Each month we try to give you tips and tricks to keep on your home maintenance. Doing things each month of the years seems to make it less overwhelming. Let us know how it goes this month!
