March Home Maintenance

It’s March. Even though it feels like it won’t stop snowing. There are a few items that you can do around your home to stay on top of things and make sure that you don’t fall behind.

Remember that if you are selling your home, the more you continue to maintain your home, the more potential value it will be worth when you sell. Staying on top of it now just makes it that much easier when you are ready.

Clean your Gutters From Debris

Making sure that your gutters are clean will be extremely important as we enter upon rainy season here in the midwest. April Showers bring May flowers, so get those gutters clean to allow for proper water flow.

Service Your AC

If you have it covered from the winter, uncover it. Give your HVAC tech a call and have it serviced (if you need one, let me know).

Clean away the Salt From your Entrances

You may want to wait a few more weeks on this one, but if you don’t clean it away, the salt can damage your floors and concrete, so make sure to sweep it away.

Clean your shower heads, washing machine, dishwasher and garbage disposal

They make items that can help you clean each item, but I’ve always use the good old baking soda and vinegar method to get everything cleaned up.

Check Caulking Outside

Once the weather is a little warmer, do a general look around your home to make sure you don’t have any missing or cracked caulk. If you do have your caulk tube ready to fix it. Making sure your home is sealed tight will help to keep water out.

Each month we try to give you tips and tricks to keep on your home maintenance. Doing things each month of the years seems to make it less overwhelming. Let us know how it goes this month!
