Points

Points have been a big topic of conversation in the recent weeks now that #interestrates have gone up.

Just because rates have increased does not mean that it isn't a great time to purchase a home. We are seeing negotiations happening in almost all deals whether it be for price, closing costs, rate buy downs or inspection items, there are ways to help buyers in the purchase of a new home.

Points are one way to do this. Points are paid by the buyer to bring down their interest rate. We don't know when another refinance boom will hit, so points today aren't a bad thing as they will help to bring down a buyers monthly payment.

A seller can also help a buyer with something such as a 2-1 buy down as well (we’ll do another post on this soon!)

Learning different tips and tricks will help you if you are in the market for a new home or if you are in the market to sell your own home. Having a REALTOR who has ideas about how to make this a great purchase / sale is imperative in the current market.
